TOMORROW'S SHOW: Important Info

12/18/2020

Tomorrow is the day!
Looking forward to an awesome event to celebrate the end of the year and this awesome team of young athletes.

Due to the large number of swimmers that missed rehearsals this week (great timing for a virus to make the rounds...),
I've adjusted the afternoon call times so that we can run additional practice/warm-up for the routines. We want everyone feeling confident for the show!

PLEASE ARRIVE EARLY-- SWIMMERS SHOULD BE READY TO SWIM AT THE TIMES LISTED

10:30am-11:15am AquaSprites Rehearsal
11:15am-12:15pm Yellow, Orange, Maroon, Gold Rehearsal
3:15pm TEAL Warm-Up
3:45pm AQUA Warm-Up
4:20pm SILVER Warm-Up
5:00pm FULL Finale Rehearsal **ALL GROUPS
5:30pm TEAM PHOTO

WE STILL NEED VOLUNTEERS!!!
Sign Up Here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1181H4_YZzB734DlMsGXA8fv2mra45rpijqatFwjG_w0/edit?usp=sharing
The goal is to share the load so that parents can all enjoy the show rather than expecting some to carry the whole weight

Should my swimmer come dressed in their costume suit?
Swimmers can wear normal practice suits for the warm-up/rehearsal then change into their costume suits for the team photo

Can my swimmer borrow a noseclip?
Please bring any spare noseclips to lend to friends!!
In October, we shipped 300 noseclips via FedEx and they are lost in the customs shuffle-- we will have them for sale immediately after they clear, but we don't have many spares for the show.

What cap will my swimmer need?
Swimmers will get caps to borrow for the show -- holiday themed! :) They must be returned at the end of the show... If your swimmer has a cap from last year (I know there are a couple out there) please bring it so that everyone has a fancy cap

What is seating going to be like?
We have rented risers (stadium-style seating), plastic chairs and cafe tables-- if you'd like to bring your own chair, you absolutely can, but it's not necessary

Is there food/drink available for purchase?
Both the lobby bar restaurant and pool restaurant will be open -- please support our hosts and feel free to purchase from either location or one of the servers.

Where can I find livestream info?
Livestream will be found on the team Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/caymanitesynchro
Recording of the show will be available for download as well as drone photos and event photographer photos.

Virtual Meet Info: Suit Sizing, Gelling, Make-Up, Timeline

11/10/2020

Hi Everyone!
We are counting down until our virtual meet with Jamaica and routines are getting cleaned up-- exciting!
Just a reminder of the schedule:

Saturday, Nov 21

9:30am Lap Warm-Up
10:00am 12U Figure Warm-Up
10:30am 12U Figure Competition
..... (13-15 Figures & JR Elements to follow)
1:00pm Solo Warm-Up
1:30pm Solo Competition
... (Duet Competition & Team Exhibition to follow)
3:00pm Awards
**this timeline might change due to weather, technical issues (yay, zoom!), etc.
Gelling:
All swimmers should either have their hair gelled or in tight braids pinned up into a bun.
Since it's been a while since our last gelling adventure, here's a helpful resource to refresh: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1fa-dwAQip5qSlDkPhCXoUL-cd08TS8gQYzK-jruPABc/edit?usp=sharing
**Please visit the store this week/weekend to make sure that you have all of the necessary supplies
Some of the swimmers have suggested gelling as a group to make the process go quicker-- awesome idea! They should plan to arrive at the pool with gelled hair DRY with headpiece in

Competition Suits:
All swimmers will need to have BLACK SUIT and WHITE CAP for Figures in the morning-- COSTUME SUITS for routines
Competition suit sizing will be done this week before practices on Wednesday and Friday:

Juniors: WEDNESDAY @ 4:45-5:45 at my house with Coach Hannah
12U/13-15: FRIDAY @ 3:30-4:15pm at my house
Make-Up:
I have told the swimmers that they can wear whatever make-up they choose for the meet-- as long as they match their routine partner :)
Some tips--
  • When it comes to waterproof mascara, the cheapest options work just as well as the most expensive
  • Using a bit of chapstick (non-scented) on eyelids will turn any eyeshadow into water-resistant
  • A light lipstick can be a good substitute for blush
  • Test out lipstick to see if it will last in the water
  • Make-up is optional for male swimmers -- if you'd like to add eye-liner drama, feel free! (ie. Jack sparrow)

No Goggles for Routines
Unless there is a medical excuse, all swimmers will be swimming routines without goggles-- we will start doing run-throughs without goggles this week, but not for the full practice.
Please ask your swimmer to ensure they have contact cases to store lenses in if they take them out, eye drops to minimize irritation and anything else that will prep them for success.

Oct 7: Today's Pick-Up/Drop-off

10/7/2020

Comments

Hello, Everyone!

We are going to go ahead with training today at Don Foster's with slightly different pick-up/drop-off procedures.
The pool and deck surrounding it are dry and have not been affected by the storm or waves, however, the parking lot is getting some water from the waves.
To ensure swimmer safety,

  • All swimmers must be dropped off to the pool steps and picked-up from the same

  • No swimmers will be allowed to sit at the picnic tables

  • Parents are asked to wait on the Don Fosters porch, tables or in cars-- please park at the top of the lot (please do not drive past the rubber markers)

  • The portable toilets are no longer on site-- please have your swimmer use the restroom before coming to Don Fosters

  • No swimmers allowed to play in the parking lot (no matter how much fun the puddles look )

Thank you for your help in enforcing the safety rules so that we can still run practices for the kids this evening. If you have any questions, feel free to WhatsApp (325-7905) or email

-Alissa

PS: The latest update on Camana Bay pool is that we are waiting on a particular part to arrive on island to repair the last leak. Once that is completed, we will be good to go-- we will update immediately when we know of any changes. Thanks!

Update for Week of Sept 28-Oct 4: Return to CIS, Open Party, Pool Policies

Good Afternoon, Everyone!

Looking forward to a fun week at the pool and some exciting changes to our schedule.
Please read the email below and stay tuned for group specific updates which will be emailed out separately this evening.

Return to practice at Camana Bay Sports Complex pool, October 1st
  • We have been told that we can return to Camana Bay Sports Complex on Thursday October 1st. YAY!!!

  • Please note that this is still subject to final sign-off from CBSC (Camana Bay Sports Complex) that the water has been treated and is safe to use. If there is an additional delay we will let you all know ASAP

CBAC Welcome Back Team Party, October 4th 1-3pm
  • To welcome everyone back to the pool we will be hosting an open day-- yay! Bring friends, family and floaties for games, cake, and an exciting underwater experience

Camana Bay Pool Expectations and Reminders
(Swimmers and Parents)

Please take a minute to review with CBAC pool/practice policies for Swimming & Synchro
  • Please be on time for the sessions and collect your child on time when it is finished. Very often the coaches are transitioning from one training group to another with no break so are not always able to provide additional supervision for a forgotten child, or chase up those who are late.
However, life happens :) Please post on the group chat if you are running late so that other parents are able to communicate with the coach/swimmers
  • All swimmers are expected to wear goggles, swimsuits (not board shorts), and swim caps for those whose hair is longer than their ears.
  • Swimmers who would like to wear a rash vest are welcome and encouraged to do so.
  • Swimmers are expected to bring their own water bottles. A new water fountain has been installed outside the gate.
  • Swimmers should bring their own training equipment, as designated on the training group info packs. The coaches will not be providing equipment, and we discourage sharing amongst swimmers.
  • Parents are asked to drop their swimmers off at the pool and ensure their swimmer enters the pool deck. Whilst we are happy for parents of younger swimmers to stay and watch, we would also encourage you to keep the viewing time to a minimum so that your swimmer feels comfortable developing their independence within the group setting. Those parents who do choose to stay and watch poolside are asked to sit on the benches, and feel free to chat with other families.
  • Please feel free to reach out to coaches via email or WhatsApp during the day with any questions or feedback. The coaching team works very antisocial hours and want to protect the limited time we have with our own families in the evenings and mornings, and are committing 100% of our energy during session times to your child and their team-mates. Help us to help them by keeping the conversations during practice to a minimum :)

Flowers One Mile, October 3rd
  • Those with confirmed entries will need to wear masks before and after the event. Please let Coach Hayley know if you are entered to compete (hayley@cbac.ky)

Training Group Parent WhatsApp Communication
  • Each training group has a designated parent WhatsApp group which is used for reminders, weather updates, training cancellations/changes etc
  • In the event that practice is changed last minute or moved, this is the most likely place to find information as coaches are usually unable to access email blasts when on the road or on the pool deck.

As always, if you have any questions please feel free to connect-- see you around the pool!

Team Invitation Emails 2020-2021

8/31/2020

Comments

Hello, Synchro Families!
As of this morning, all Training Group emails have been sent out for the 2020-2021 Season-- YAY!
If you did not receive an email, please let me know-- we discovered that some accounts selected to 'opt out' of emails upon creation by mistake.
Growing pains of using our awesome new system :)

I've included the update email below for everyone and will be sending out additional info before the parent meeting on Monday

See you all at the pool!

______________________________________________________
After a whirlwind Spring and a Summer of island fun, it's time to kick-off the 5th season of Caymanite Synchro-- let the fun begin!
A couple of important notes:
  • PARENT MEETING
    Monday, August 31st @ 7pm [Location TBD]

We are going to kick-off the season with an all-parent meeting-- swimmers are welcome to come as well and listen in.
The purpose of the meeting is to go over important team information, connect with the coolest parents group ever, sign-up for volunteer opportunities and celebrate the start of a fun season.

I will email location details once they are confirmed

  • POOL UPDATE
As of this week, the Camana Bay pool is undergoing the final stages of repairs (tiling) and we have an estimated 4-5 weeks before we are able to use the facility once again.
Thankfully, our friends at Don Foster's have come to the rescue and we will be using the sea and the dive pool for training in the meantime.

  • TRAINING GROUPS
For this season, we are excited to welcome talented, new faces and have expanded training groups to make this year's team the strongest yet.
    Can't wait!!

For the period of Sept 1- Oct 17th, training times will be modified to account for space limitations and several groups will be training simultaneously.
When we return to the Camana Bay pool, some groups will have extended training times and certain training groups will be further defined in preparation for upcoming competitive opportunities.
For a list of the 2020-2021 Training Groups, please visit the CBAC website HERE

I want to say a HUGE "thank you" to Coach Paige for all that she has given this team since her arrival in March.
The timing was tough, but it opened doors for our team and we are so grateful!
Coach Paige has extended her contract and will be working with both the synchro (artistic) swimmers as well as coordinating the CBAC swim school. YAY!!

If you would like to become more involved, have ideas for making this season even greater, or have questions about training, please reach out via email or feel free to give me a call on Saturday between 9-1pm or Monday between 9-4pm

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the pool!!
